FRENCH III ORAL FINAL TOPICS

May 25, 2012

Listed below are the four possible topics for the Oral Final Exam on Friday, May 25, 2012.  On that date, the teacher will select the situation and which role each student will play.  Therefore, each student should be prepared to perform every role in all four of the situations.

A.   En pleine nature.  You’re on a tough hike and your friend is starting to get tired and disoriented.  He wants to know when you’ll be at your destination. Encourage your friend to keep going.

B.   La presse.  You’re a student in Paris who takes the bus or subway to get to school.  This morning on the radio, you heard something about a transportation workers’ strike, but you missed the details. You’ve just met up with a friend who heard the same item but has more information than you. Ask him specific questions about whether and how you’re going to get to school today.

C.   Notre planète.  You are environmentalists at a conference discussing ways to reduce global warming. One of you is the moderator who asks each environmentalist to speak in turn.  Each one has a different idea about the most important measure that can be taken.  From something as simple as turning off anything that’s not being used to something as complex as inventing a new mode of transportation, nothing is off limits in the discussion but all ideas must be supported.

D.   La société. You’re answering the call of someone who needs an ambulance.  Ask the caller what happened and where they are (not only the address, but what type of building, where the entrance is located, etc.), and end the conversation by telling them that help is on the way.
